Free Pattern: Half Moon Blanket

Here’s what you’ll need for this project

  • 5+ skeins of super chunky wool

  • Size 15mm needles with a 60cm+ cord

Main panel

Cast on 66* stitches with a pair of 15mm/US19 needles.

You will follow a 16 stitch/36 row repeat of knits and purls to create the half moon pattern. The pattern can be easily followed via the chart below:

*The first and last stitch of each row will be worked separately from the chart. Slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last stitch of each row to create a neat edge.

How to read this chart

Charts for flat knitting are read in the same direction you would knit your work. The numbers along the side will indicate the row and the direction in which you read. Start from the bottom and read from Right to Left (←) on RS rows (the odd-numbered rows) and from Left to Right (→) on WS rows (the even-numbered rows).

One you have finished the 36 rows of the chart, start again from the bottom to continue the pattern.

Hope this was helpful! As always, if you choose to knit this pattern, I would love to see it over on Instagram.
